Diabetes A Disease That Affects How Your Body Uses Blood...

Diabetes mellitus is referred to a disease that affects how your body uses blood sugar (glucose). Glucose is vital to your health because it is an important source of energy for the cells that make up your muscles and tissues. Having diabetes wether it is type 1, 2 or gestational diabetes , means there is an excessive amount of glucose in the blood, although the causes may differ, the high levels of glucose can lead to serious health problems. The actual term diabetes is that the body is unable to produce any or enough insulin, which causes elevated levels of glucose in the blood. This occurs in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, which are both similar the structure of the autoimmune disease but differ from each other in that type 1 is an acute dysfunction of the pancreas this usually occurs at a young age, and type 2 is progressive and chronic due to increasing inability of cells to respond to insulin, type 2 is usually due to life style and diet. Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, type 1 diabetes was previously known as juvenile diabetes. About 5% of people with diabetes have this type of the disease. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder where the body does not produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other foods into energy needed for life.
